FIFA World Cup 2014

Hello everyone,

This is the season of the FIFA World Cup and thing have been so exciting. I sat at late night;well early morning to watch the opening ceremony and the first game. I was surprised with the technology they used for the opening ceremony or the large football which was used as the main stage yet with digital screens on it. How technology has become very much advanced and well equipped at mens fingertips these days.
Well I'm supporting Brazil all the way in this and hoping to see them take the World Cup with them.

The Great Wall of China - Emperor Qin

Hello everyone,

The Great Wall of China was built on Emperor Qin's orders. He was the first Emperor of China and became an Emperor at a very young age. He built the the Great Wall of China across six states to stop the nomads from the North of China to come to the South without permission.

Here is a video that I showed the children. Once they were done then they worked in small groups to make a poster of what they've learnt over this two days lesson on the Great Wall of China.

Hello everyone,

Today the children had a experience on the Great Wall of China and the history of it's place on why it was built and how long it took. I had to show the children the world map in order for them to know where China is and where Malaysia is. It was an eye opener to the children in how things are in different place.

The children were introduced to China from a child's perspective and they were able to recall what details were shared on the video. After that they were asked to build their own Great Wall of China using the blocks given to them in class and this is what they did.

 

Tomorrow they would learn about the Emperor Qin who was the reason they build the Great Wall of China.

Parent Day in school

Hello everyone,

Today was Parent Day in school for the 5 and 6 years old parents.
The children have been practicing for weeks on their performances to presented to their parents. The parents were very much impressed with the children's performances and with the children serving their parents breakfast that morning. Here are some pictures from the performances done by the children.

These children are so talented in so many ways and I'm waiting to see more of what they can do.

Life-Cycle of a Butterfly

Hello everyone,

Today is the day I did a lesson with the children on the life-cycle of a butterfly. I showed them a video and asked them to work in pairs and to draw out on the computer or smart board of the life-cycle of the butterfly in the way they understand. Start of Practicum

Hello everyone,

This week I've started on my practicum in an awesome school with awesome teachers and children. The environment is so welcoming and yet safe that I wouldn't mind hanging out there all day.
It just only a few days that I've been there but it feels like I've gotten the know everyone better.

The school encourages children to speak up, make mistake and learn from them which I truly believe that is how children would learn. I can't wait to go back tomorrow to see the children and learn.

What Kids REALLY Think About Social Media?

Hello everyone,

I came across this video on YouTube and was very much impressed with children's thoughts on Social Media these days. Children are so innocent and honest about their understandings on social media. Based on the video below you would be able to understand what children are saying about their understanding on social media.

I totally agree with Chloe as she mentioned on her blog that, 'I believe as educators, we should introduce our young explorers to social media and explain to how to use these social media wisely such as using privacy settings and the dos and don’ts.' 

Even though the world is very much advanced, children must be guided in their learning while exploring the social media world as the media world can be very dangerous and harmful towards children's lives. We should be there to protect our children as much as possible and that is what I see I am to do as an educator.

Social Media and Its Impact on Kids Today

Hello everyone,

In this day and age children are very much advanced into and occupied with the social media. It has a great impact onto children's lives that ICT is just at their fingertips and easy for them to handle. Soon in the future most probably children would stop writing using pens and paper yet they would be using the computers for everyday use in their lives. Personally I belief the writing and colouring using pen and paper should never stop in children's life yet keep using them because who knows one day ICT may crash down on us and we would have to start over all again with paper and pen. This is what I belief.

The ASSIGNMENT

Good morning my beautiful friends,

-ASSIGNMENT 1 of EDC3100-

Honestly I was very lost in what I had to do at first because this semester I'm taking four subjects and jumbling all my subjects together which is bad but I kept trying and thank god for Ms. Kim's class in helping to explain on the assignment. She's been so helpful explain everything step by step and guide us through the class and explaining on the things we need to do for each section.

She introduced Prezi to us in the last class on Saturday in how to use this website in doing our part 2 of assignment 1. I find Prezi a very different and interesting webpage to use in doing my presentations. She also introduced Glogster to us. In my opinion both Glogster and Prezi are 2 very different webpages in doing presentations in and both have amazing graphics and designs to use. I'm not very sure which one I would use but I'll try both out and see which I'm much more comfortable doing my presentation on.

Fellow course mates who are still worried or panicked on what to do for your assignment 1, part 2 please don't be worried as you can ask anyone from our class for help and also Ms. Kim as she's always willing to help and do read the forums on USQ as it has very useful informations including the BlackBoard Classroom also known as Way Station conducted by David Jones our USQ Examiner who is very helpful and willing to answer to any question you have on this course and assignments.

Getting Involved

Hi my amazing friends, 

Here I want to share about how children get involved in ICT and how do they benefit from it. 

As we know this game called Wii game where children physically in contact with the game and still using ICT at the same time. Even though some children may not be able to go outside and play they have this game to allow them to use their whole body to play games such as badminton, squash, car racing games and many more. There should be adult supervision when children do play with this game as it can be dangerous to because they are playing with it inside the house or classroom (if it is in schools). 

Other than the Wii Game children to have other things to do to get them involved in ICT to help them develop their learning skills or hobbies such as photography or filmmaking. Why am I saying this is because children in this century are very much exposed to this things and I would suggest parents to allow your children to develop these skills (hobbies) as it may be very useful for them in the future and to allow them to explore and learn more in what they may love doing. 

I've seen children wanting to take their parents phones to take picture or record videos of things or people around them. Yes some parents are afraid to give their phone to the children as it may get lost or broken but instead parents can get for their children, child size camera's to help them explore which in my growing days my dad got for me in simple disposal camera that could only take shoots in the sun but that helped me explore in what I love doing and continue to take pictures and video's of things and people around me. 

Parents do encourage your children to explore in things they love to do.

Educational Games

Hello my lovely friends,

Children can learn using ICT through educational games. There are various free educational games online where children are allowed to browse through to play and explore with in order to  learn for those children's parents who maybe can't afford buying those games outside they can still play for free through the internet.
Some children's parents may buy CD's or DVD's to play just like my parents did for me when I was growing up to help me on the math skills and science.

There are many websites of educational games where children can learn from and explore but I'm going to share with you two websites which got my attention and I find it very useful for children of various age groups to learn from.

The first website is called KA as known as Knowledge Adventure. This website has various games for various age groups of children and it is also applicable to use on mobile phones as it is convenient for parents to use while travelling with their children.

The second website is called Fisher-Price. It is well known for it's brand of good quality toy products for children. It may be very expensive but it is toys that would last for about 2-3 decades solid and then the colours may start to wear out but would still last. It would depend on how it's handled. On this website the games are mainly for younger children, as young as babies and  would need parental guidance to help them. The games are solid and well designed for younger children to learn colours, shapes, alphabets, number and more.

Media and Children

Hello my lovely friends,

Today I'm going to share with you of how Media affects Children in their growing up.

Social Media especially has a huge influence in children's through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blogger, and many more. They too are given their own iPhone's and iPad's to use WhatsApp and WeChat to communicate with their friends. Children these days have all the excess to these websites and way more advance than I was at their age.

As you can see how children are very well versed in ICT these days in watching movies and listening to songs that they search using YouTube and they are very well equipped with these materials in the palm of their hands.
Through my experience with children the media has a HUGE effect on the children's life especially movies as we can see now the latest Disney movie FROZEN  has made a HUGE impact into every child of various ages and adults life through the story and songs from the movie. Here is an example of how the children reacted towards this movie....

As you can see from this video above how ICT is being exposed to children and how it gives opportunities to speak up and share their thoughts of their learning. 

The media may have their pros and cons to it but when I saw this video it made me think twice on what ICT media can do to benefit the children in their learning and all it takes is the adults on being responsible in how they expose the ICT media to the children under their care.

The use of ICT in Today's World

Hello my beautiful friends,

The topic of the 21st Century is a huge thing in these days and especially in education how it affects the children and how does it invite children in wanting to use ICT in their learning.

Seeing our world today and how it has become so advance in technology makes me so curious how come we still are unable to find MH370 for the past 3 weeks now. Yes I'm a Malaysian questioning the situation of MH370 and without any solid responds on the plane's whereabouts makes me wonder and curious just like everyone else who are still looking for this plane.
I'm a person who loves to investigate things and I watch shows such as Air Crash Investigation. As a person who watches this shows and see how people investigate a missing plane makes me wonder how much is there to know and ICT to be used in finding this plane MH370 as it has been missing since 8th March 2014.

Even with our advance of ICT the authorities are still finding it difficult to locate MH370. Why is that? Is our ICT still not advance or modern enough to find the missing plane when it is our current ICT that built and made this plane MH370....it is something to ponder upon. Honestly I hope they find MH370 very, very, very soon as it is too long being away and not knowing where it has gone.

The History of Technology in Education

Hello my friends,

Here is something I want to share with all of you, the 'History of ICT in in Education' and how it all started.

I was amazed when I saw this video as it was something very different and something I didn't expect at all. This is something new for me in a way of how technology came into this world and how it has been used among the people of this world from centuries ago. 

Seeing how much technology has helped changed this world and helped it develop in so many ways makes us human so much interested in knowing more about technology. As a teacher looking into the future of how technology may be in use especially in education for the children it would probably be where children wouldn't need to go to school's anymore but just sit home and study online where the teacher moderates and teaches via Skype every day. The children wouldn't need to travel but just be at home.

The disadvantage of this happening is that children may become lazy or just never go online to learn but just sit at home which they can become very unhealthy and ending up not having any real outdoor activities in the future. 

Well I'm not saying it will happen but it could happen depending on how we adults make use of these technologies and how we introduce them to the children in the future.

It's something to think about as teachers to the future generation of this world.

Special Need Children and ICT

Today I want to share about something I found online about special children and ICT.
Special Needs Children have a very special place in my heart and one of my dreams is to be able to help them out in anyway I can with whatever I may have.
Here is a video I found on how these children may be in-mobile to do things but yet be able to use ICT in their learning process to get their message across with help from the adults around them.

They are just simply amazing children who just blew my mind away in their use of technology. The world has advanced so much that I didn't realise how much ICT has helped these group of children. Someday I would want to help these special children all over the world with ICT.

The Blackboard Recorded Classrooms

Hello dear readers,

I've been busy listening to the Blackboard Classroom's also known as the Way Station Week 1 recently as I didn't understand what was to do with this subject.

The first video I listen was on the blog and why was it important to create a blog and what does the blog require. I've had blogs before so I knew how to go about it but in this subject in what I was required to post was confusing slightly as I had no idea what am I to do. Thank God for the Blackboard Classroom I was able to figure things out, but I'm still lost in finding about the 'what, where and why' question and where do I post them up. I still have to find out and go about it.

My First Class

Good Evening dear readers,

This blog is about my experiences through this subject EDC3100 - ICT and Pedagogy.

What can I say about my first day in this class??? 

So far all I've heard about this subject was that it wasn't an easy course and needed to be given lots of time especially to ICT. Personally for me even everyone has said how difficult it is I didn't take it that way. I took it as a new subject and new experience into learning something new to help me in the future in dealing with children. 

Today's class was slightly overwhelming for me on the assignments in how to go about it. I'm am not a blogger writer even though I've tried having blogs before but never kept it up to date as I wasn't good at it so writing a blog again after a long time feels like it’s the first time. This is a good thing as I know I won't be overconfident about it. I felt happy helping out my friends today to create their blog and guide them in what I know because it made me feel that I'm starting to like this subject as it requires ICT in various scenarios. 

I can't wait to learn more in how to use ICT especially with children in schools and what would be the children’s responses towards ICT and learning.

Hope all of you would love reading my post.
